Wendy’s managers will have a job fair Feb. 27 and 29, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the Poulsbo Fire Department meeting room. Expect to fill out an application and be interviewed that day; you’ll learn whether you have a new job within a week of the event, Wendy’s district manager Jim Helfrick said.

Looking about the market on a recent sunny Saturday, I got to thinking about the special role our Farmers Market plays in Kingston. We know it’s a place for us 98346’ers to enjoy our Marina Park while we buy and sell local produce, but do we notice that it’s also Kingston’s retail incubator — a place for local entrepreneurs to try out their products and ideas?
The Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe broke ground on a larger Point Casino on Aug. 15, with hopes of opening the new casino in early 2012. The planned 52,000-square-foot building will be constructed adjacent to the existing 20,000-square-foot building off Hansville Road. The new casino is smaller than the expansion plans discussed at a public meeting in 2007. But it’s a big step forward, Port Gamble S’Klallam Chairman Jeromy Sullivan said. “We want economic development and we want economic growth, and we want all these things while protecting the environment,” Sullivan said.
