Poulsbo Americana Music Festival benefits Eli’s Place

The Poulsbo Americana Music Festival takes place 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 13 in Raab Park, 18349 Caldart Avenue. Admission is free.
The summer concert features the Tune Stranglers of Olympia with hot jazz, swing and slow blues; Chele’s Kitchen with fiddle tunes, classic rock and blues; and the Konzelman Family Band featuring six children and their parents singing, dancing, playing acoustic instruments and throwing in a bit of comedy and clogging.
There will also be barbeque, farm-fresh food and baked goods or bring a picnic basket. Other activities include a pie-eating contest, bubblegum-blowing contest, sack races, face painting and more.
The event is organized by the Greater Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds will benefit Eli’s Place, a safe haven for victims of domestic violence. Ardis Morrow, the founder of Eli’s Place, is an 80-year-old North Kitsap resident who has been deeply involved in the community, serving on the North Kitsap School District Board of Directors, in many other organizations, and as a long-time member of the Poulsbo Rotary. She is also author of “Ardis, Do You Have a Story for Us?” She founded Eli’s Place after her family was tragically impacted by the death of her great-grandnephew, Eli Creekmore due to domestic violence. Since then, she has dedicated her life to breaking cycles of family violence.
