A power outage on a train track in downtown Edmonds Wednesday morning stalled ferry traffic for about an hour on the Kingston to Edmonds route.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe cut power to the railway shortly after 10 a.m. while working on the tracks, Washington State Ferries spokeswoman Susan Harris-Huether said. The power loss caused gates at the track to close, cutting off vehicle traffic from the upper ferry holding lot.

Ferries were held at the docks in Edmonds and Kingston. Burlington Northern lifted the railway gates at about 11:15 a.m. and ferry service resumed, Harris-Huether said.
