EGLON — A 29-year-old Kingston woman was injured Sunday afternoon when the Chevrolet Cavalier she was driving collided with a power pole in Eglon.

The woman was flown by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to a statement from North Kitsap Fire & Rescue.

The collision was reported at 12:34 p.m. at Eglon Road NE and Hoffman Road NE near the Eglon boat ramp. The woman was conscious but trapped in the vehicle when responders arrived at the scene. A utility pole was sheared off, apparently from the force of the collision.

Responders used hydraulic equipment to free the woman from the vehicle. She was driven to a waiting airlift helicopter at Wolfle Elementary School in Kingston.

The Kitsap County Sheriff's office is investigating the cause of the collision.
