The North Kitsap School District Board of Directors has selected finalists for the superintendent’s position, which will be vacated in June by retiring current Superintendent Gene Medina.

Final candidates will be invited to come to the district April 29 through May 1.

The tentative schedule for the candidates is as follows:

April 29 - Candidates will meet with district officials, tour Poulsbo-area schools, and attend a board dinner that evening.

April 30 - Candidates will tour schools in Kingston, the Transportation Center and S’Klallam Tribal Education Center, attend a reception with district staff and later, a community reception will be held to meet and greet candidates at 7 p.m. in the NKSD office boardroom.

May 1 - Candidates will have individual interviews with the board, beginning with a briefing at 8 a.m. and interviews following at 9 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.; the public is welcome to attend these. An executive session will be held immediately following the interviews (not open to the public). It’s still unknown when the board will make a final decision.

The public will have an opportunity to provide input at the reception and after the individual interviews by filling out written-response forms.
