Earthquake recorded near Indianola Sept. 5

INDIANOLA — Local politics and the dock closure aren't the only things shaking up Indianola. A 3.0 magnitude earthquake was reported near the town at about 12:30 p.m., Sept. 5, according to the United States Geological Survey website.

Thirteen people from surrounding Puget Sound communities reported feeling the quake, and reported it on the website.

The epicenter of the earthquake was less than one mile, northeast from Indianola. The depth was about 16.5 miles. The earthquake is considered shallow by the USGS.
