Eight from North Kitsap, one from Kingston qualify for District tennis tournament

POULSBO — A total of nine players from the North Kitsap School District boys tennis teams qualified for the 2A Olympic League District Tournament.
Included in the list of players was North Kitsap senior Zach Fohn, who took first place in the tournament.
The tennis players, three of which are alternates, qualified for District's during the 2A Olympic League Tournament. The tournament began Oct. 13 at the North Kitsap High School tennis courts.
District qualifiers include North Kitsap singles players Zach Fohn and Matt Moriarty and Kingston's Cody Combs, who qualified as an alternate.
Doubles teams qualifiers include North Kitsap's Alex Olson/ Steven Breitmayer, Nick Tedford/ Chris Gracey and alternates Tyler Swansboro/ Sebastian Ford.
Qualifiying players also include singles: Byron Boots (Sequim), Hayden McCartney (Port Angeles), Cory Stewart (Klahowya). Doubles include: Cornachione/ Ryweck (Chimacum/Port Townsend), Fagan/ Landram (Klahowya), Gunstone/ Hill (Sequim).

Buccaneers overcome Bremerton Knights
BREMERTON — The Kingston High School Buccaneers outplayed the Bremerton Knights Oct. 14, leaving Bremerton with a 35-28 win.
The Olympic League game advanced the Bucs to a 3-2 League record (4-3 overall).
The Bucs host North Mason Friday. Game starts at 7 p.m. North Mason is coming off a 40-20 win against Klahowya.

North Kitsap takes win from Port Angeles
PORT ANGELES — The North Kitsap Vikings football team bounced back from its homecoming loss with a 35-14 victory over Port Angles Oct. 14.
The win over PA advances the Vikings Olympic League record to 4-1 (4-3 overall).
The Vikings totaled 451 yards, 187 rushing and 264 passing. Port Angeles totaled 309 yards, 176 rushing and 133 passing.
North Kitsap's JT Nettleton scored twice in the night from passes by quarterback AJ Milyard. Kicker Kyler Gracey went 5-5 for points after touchdown.
The Vikings play Sequim at home Friday. Game starts at 7 p.m.
